Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth. Psalm 46:10
There is only one unshakable source of strength where we can rest, release control, and find true peace, God Himself. As women, we often carry the weight of responsibilities, striving to hold everything together, to fix, to plan, to ensure that everything moves forward. Yet, God invites us to step away from the striving and into His presence, to embrace our vulnerability and lean on His strength rather than our own.
A sailboat moves gracefully not by its own effort but by surrendering to the wind. When its sails are open, it catches the power of something far greater, allowing it to move forward with ease. We, too, were created to be led, by God, by His Spirit, by His voice. But if we are too busy rowing in our strength, trying to control the waves, we will exhaust ourselves instead of experiencing the peace that comes from trusting Him.
Life will not always be still waters. Storms will come, waves will crash, and we may even feel battered by the journey. But even in the fiercest storms, God speaks: “Be still and know that I am God.” He is asking us to trust not in the absence of hardship but in the certainty of His presence. When we quiet our anxious hearts and turn to Him, we begin to hear His guidance, like the wind directing a sail.
Today, ask yourself: Where do I need to surrender? Where am I holding on too tightly, trying to force my own way? Being still does not mean doing nothing; it means making intentional space for Jesus. Open your heart, seek Him in prayer and Scripture, and let go of anything that keeps you from trusting His direction. You were never meant to carry it all alone. Let your sails be filled by His presence, and allow Him to lead you safely forward.
