Day 10 - What are you looking for?

Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalms 73: 25,26

Jesus never promised us a life of ease, wealth, or freedom from suffering. Instead, He spoke of blessings for the poor, for those who mourn, for those who hunger for righteousness, and for those who endure persecution.

King David, despite being a powerful king, knew that nothing on earth could satisfy him like God’s presence. His greatest desire was not his throne, his victories, or his wealth, it was God Himself. The more he worshiped, the more he understood that true fulfillment comes only from being near to God.

Perhaps today, you feel empty, as though life has fallen short of your expectations. Maybe you find yourself longing for something more, feeling like you are missing something essential. This place of longing can feel uncomfortable and discouraging, but it is also the very place where God meets us most intimately. When life is full and things are going well, it is easy to feel content with temporary joys. Yet, those things are fleeting, like a bubble filled with air, beautiful for a moment, but ultimately empty when it bursts.

God’s presence is different. The world can take everything from us, but nothing can take His presence from the hearts of those who trust Him. He promises, "You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." (Jeremiah 29:13) His presence is not a one-time event but an ongoing relationship, one that grows through stillness, prayer, and time in His Word. If we are constantly chasing after other things, we will always feel as if He is distant, but when we truly seek Him, we will find He has been near all along.

As women, the demands of life often pull us in many directions, tempting us to look for solutions everywhere but in God. Yet, His presence requires something different from us, it calls for discipline, humility, and stillness. He longs for us to come to Him, not just for answers or relief, but simply to be with Him.

Today, come before God with humility and repentance. Be honest about the ways you have sought after everything but God. Lay down the desire for control, self-sufficiency, and worldly success at the foot of the cross. Let God wash over you with His love, reminding you that He sees your longings, but asks you to seek Him first. Because once you have Him, you have everything.
