And the Lord came and stood, calling as at other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” And Samuel said, “Speak, for your servant hears.” 1 Sam 3:10
God has placed each of us on this earth with a purpose, not merely to chase personal ambitions, but to use our gifts and talents in service to others and in honor of Him. Yet, how can we follow His calling if we are not attuned to His voice?
When God first called Samuel, he did not recognize the voice speaking to him. It took time and guidance before he understood that it was the Lord calling his name. Once he realized it, he responded with a willing heart: "Speak, for your servant hears." Like Samuel, we too must learn to recognize God's voice among the many distractions and influences that seek our attention.
As women, we are constantly surrounded by voices telling us who we should be, how we should live, and what will make us feel fulfilled. The world is loud, filled with expectations, comparisons, and cultural pressures. But God's voice does not compete for our attention; He speaks in stillness, waiting for us to quiet the noise and listen.
Not every voice that sounds good is from God. Many messages mimic truth but lead us away from His will. The only way to discern His voice is by knowing His Word. When we immerse ourselves in Scripture, we build a foundation of truth, allowing us to distinguish His leading from the echoes of the world.
Today, take time to seek Him in His Word. Examine the voices influencing your heart—do they align with Scripture? Are they drawing you closer to Jesus or pulling you away? The more you dwell in His presence, the more clearly you will recognize when He is speaking. Lay aside distractions, turn your heart toward Him, and, like Samuel, be ready to say, "Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening."
