Day 17 - Flowers

Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets. Matthew 22:36-40

God’s law can be summed up in two great commands: Love the Lord with all your heart, soul, and mind, and love your neighbor as yourself. Jesus lived by these principles and calls us to do the same.

When we approach our appearance with the desire to glorify God, we reflect His character and show our love for Him. When we consider how our appearance affects others, we demonstrate love for our neighbor by not drawing attention away.

As women, God designed us to bring beauty into the world, much like flowers that adorn a garden. But our beauty is meant to reflect the Creator, not to exalt ourselves. Our bodies are vessels for God’s glory, and how we present ourselves should honor Him. This does not mean following rigid dress codes to prove our righteousness, but rather making choices that align with a heart surrendered to Christ.

Dressing with modesty and self-control is not about shame or restriction but about embracing our identity as daughters of God. It means rejecting the world’s pressures to either flaunt or devalue our bodies and instead seeking to be set apart, reflecting God’s wisdom rather than fleeting trends. Our choices in dress should be guided by Scripture, shaped by our cultural and environmental contexts, and ultimately centered on glorifying God.

Today, take a moment to examine your heart as you prepare for the day. What motivates your choices in appearance? Are they rooted in a desire to glorify God or influenced by worldly pressures? Surrender these thoughts to God and ask Him to shape your heart so that your outward expression becomes a natural reflection of the transformation He is doing within you. True beauty flows from a life surrendered to God—one that shines His love and grace from the inside out.
