“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Matthew 6:25-26
In a world overflowing with fear-based information, it can feel almost impossible not to be anxious. We are constantly reminded of everything that is wrong, yet we have little control over any of it. However, anxiety is not new, throughout history, people have faced uncertainty, struggles, and fear. The difference for us as women of faith is that we do not have to carry these burdens alone.
God invites us to release our worries to Him, to bring every concern before Him in prayer, not with despair, but with thanksgiving. It may not seem logical to our minds that simply talking to God, someone we cannot see, could quiet our fears, yet He promises to give us peace that surpasses all understanding. This peace is not something we create for ourselves; it is a gift from Him, a supernatural guard over our hearts and minds.
As women, our emotions and thoughts often run deep. We process everything, our families, our responsibilities, the future, and even the struggles of the world around us. And yet, this is exactly where God promises to bring His peace, to our hearts, where emotions swirl, and to our minds, where anxious thoughts arise. His peace is like a shield, protecting us from being overwhelmed by the chaos of the world.
Today, lean into the shelter of God’s presence. Bring your fears, your worries, and your burdens before Jesus, and then be still. Let Him fill your emotions with His love, your mind with His truth, and your entire being with His unshakable peace. The world will always give reasons to worry, but God offers a peace that the world cannot take away. Lean into Him and rest.
